I am writing this from Älmhult, Sweden as I am knee-deep in my migration process right now! For me, one of the key features of this book is that it explains really important processes in English. My Swedish is not yet very strong and - yes, nearly everyone does speak English really well here - BUT the essential websites about travel, migration, taxation, etc. are in Swedish. So, I'm Moving to Sweden! really helped get me up to speed on the essential info I've needed to get myself settled in :). 10 outta 10 recommend.

I love to travel and I always go on different pages and read blogs to see what I'm getting myself in to. I enjoy learning about the culture before I go visit to be sure I am being culturally appropriate and not disrespectful of anyone. This book answered all my questions and makes me want to just book a ticket to Sweden.

What are the things you have to do before departing and when you’ve arrived? Our goal is to have you covered and make sure you’ve thought of everything before you get on that plane.

Finally, how does one acclimatize to life in Sweden and integrate into Swedish society? Naturally, we’ll shed some light on that too.

About the author

Mirjam Taylor is a native Swede who left Sweden to live abroad for many years. She understands the joys and struggles of moving to a new country – understanding a foreign culture, learning a scary new language, and dealing with confusing bureaucracy.

She’s also had many dear friends approach her throughout the years, asking her questions about how to move to Sweden, and how to figure out life in Sweden after arriving. “Which visa can I apply for?” “Do I really need to learn Swedish to live in Sweden?” “How do I call home?” “How do I buy alcohol?”

The desire to help these friends started a research journey but the book would’ve never been created without the help of some incredible individuals.

We hope this book will help anyone taking their first step towards their new Swedish life to enjoy that journey!
